What a weekend!

Everything went wrong... yet everything was perfect.

Saturday the plan was to take Major to the vet, get some shopping done, and swing by a craft show to get Zachary's name added to a family sign we had done. The vet went okay- Major just has allergies causing a skin disorder (which we already knew about). This year the skin disease is just worse than before and has become infected. Poor thing!

On the way home we found Cecil in the street and rescued him from being run over. Joe decided he wanted to keep him as a pet.

We went to do some shopping but the Target we went to didn't have any of the things in stock we were looking for. So we headed to the festival. But the vendor we needed to see to do our sign wasn't there- he only comes in the spring.

So off we went again (after cleaning up the boys who both had "potty issues"). We headed to a different Target and got the things we needed. When we came out it was pouring down rain and much later than anticipated. We swung by PetsMart to get Cecil a tank but were told that turtles are very expensive to keep- we decided to let him loose. Starving, tired and wet we headed home. We went through a drive through to get a bucket of chicken for dinner but ended up waiting over 30 minutes for it (the cook had quit and the manager was making the chicken- oh well... we got the food for free).

Sunday we woke up early again and quickly got the boys dressed for some family pictures. We showed up 10 minutes late for our appointment (although we didn't think we were such) and they rudely said they couldn't take us, we would have to re-schedule for another day. NO WAY was I getting the kids dressed up again another day. Another (nicer) girl said they had an appointment that was canceled for later that day- we said we would take it! We ambled around the mall and had some lunch for about 3 hours and then went back for our pictures. Zachary needed cleaning due to another bout of "potty issues" but we got in there and 10 minutes later had the pictures done (yes- 10 minutes is all they gave us with the photographer who rushed through our pictures). After waiting another 20 minutes or so to see the proofs I was HIGHLY disappointed. The only really good picture was of Adam and Joe. They kept trying to talk me into buying that one but I (as politely as I could with my blood boiling) reminded them that the whole reason for the pictures was to get pictures of Zachary!! They said they would be more than willing to reschedule a retake for (once again) another day. They clearly do NOT understand!! We told them to give us our free picture- picked out the one good one of Zach and walked out. DO NOT go to JcPenney's for pictures!!

By now we were late for a birthday party for one of Adam's friends. So we headed home to pick up the gift and discovered Cecil had either escaped from our flower bed or been stolen!! Joe is sure he was stolen as he couldn't have gotten away that fast. Joe took a few minutes to mourn the loss of his friend and then we left for Chuckie Cheese (yup- that oh so fun place where a kid can be a kid and grown ups go crazy with the insanity). At least Adam (and Joe) seemed to enjoy themselves there.

Adam once again did not like the big mouse and clung to Joe.

Zachary and I were the keepers of the tickets!

Later last night as I sat in my room and decompressed from the intensive weekend I thought... how lucky am I! It may not be the relaxing weekends we had before kids- but it is a different kind of wonderful. With Zachary in my arms, I listened in through the monitor as Adam read books to himself in his room. It was a perfect moment... and all I could do was sit and cry tears of joy. (and Joe did too later last night- although I think that was because he watched his taped Redskins/ Cowboys game! YAY Redskins!)
