Looking Ahead (the continuation of "A look back")

Adam very much understood the idea of Santa this year.  He was timid to meet him, but excited none the less.  He didn't say much to him when they met... but did manage to get out... "I want a choo choo."

He must have been a good boy... Santa brought lots of fun stuff!

It was a good laid back Christmas. The boys seemed more tired than usual.
We thought it might be from all the excitement, but when they started running a fever... we knew it was something else.  We ended up having Jesus's birthday cake upstairs in bed.

However, the kids (especially Adam) barely touched their dessert.  We were off to the doctors the next day-- ear infection for Zachary, and Adam... poor thing... double ear infection and strep throat... and yet such a little trooper!

We had a low key New Year's as well.  This time the kiddos were a little bit more into their treat for the evening... don't freak... we may not be the best parent's in the world, but that's just sparkling cider in their glasses!

Here's to a great 2010!

A look back

So here I am blogging about 2009 when we are almost into our third month of 2010.  Where oh where does the time go?!?

I have been bugged for pictures by many and I can come up with 1001 reasons why I haven't gotten around to it... home remodeling, illnesses, travel, work, broken computer, broken camera, a little bit of snowfall etc. etc. etc... but these are all just general life things that I'm sure you all know about.  So I will spare you any sob story or excuses and just get into posting some of my favorite captured moments from the end of 09 and begining of 10.

Adam was in a little pagent at the end of the year.  I was super hyped about it!  For me it was like a verification of motherhood.  "Can't do anything tonight... I've got to go to my son's play."  Becoming a mom was never an ultimate goal of mine.  Yes, I thought that one day I would perhaps get married and have children.  But it didn't consume me and I never really thought about it... pacifiers, minivans, and school shows were a foreign concept that I was in no hurry to explore.  Then I met Joe.  And my whole world turned upside down (or, I tend to believe, it finally turned right side up).  And the most exciting Friday evening out in a long time... was spent attending my little boy's school show.
Adam practiced his songs all week, but when he got on stage... he was FROZEN.
Meanwhile Zachary had great fun dancing in the aisle.
The first of our big snowstorms began the night of Adam's show... luckily it didn't really pick up til later.  More on all the snow we've had this winter later.

Each night leading up to Christmas we had some fun little activities to do.  Like making snowballs.
Make gifts for teachers
Draw pictures for Santa
And Christmas Eve Festivities... making cookies, setting out cookies for Santa, and opening Christmas gowns
Adam's gown was cars with slippers... but Zachary... I just had to get him the Elmo Christmas gown and slippers.  Elmo was one of his first words and he is obsessed with him. I may have written about it before... but it was so cute, I'll tell it again. When we went for Zachary's 1 year check up for his G6PD, Adam was trying to cheer him up after getting blood drawn by pointing out the Mickey Mouse on the wall.  The nurse leaned over and said, you like Mickey Mouse Zachary.  to which he replied... clear as day... "No, I want Elmo."  We had a good laugh.  A few minutes later, the nurse peaked her head in the room with pictures of Elmo she had printed off the computer.  The epression and excitement on Zachary's face was priceless!
