Activities in April

I haven't posted in awhile, but that doesn't mean we haven't kept busy! Here are some of the things we have been up to...

CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

The Cherry Blossoms came out quickly this year and we almost missed all the fun. Since a lot of the trees had already lost their blossoms we really didn't get too many good pics... but we did have lots of fun. We even went to a Japanese street festival. Adam got to meet a sweet dog. (more pics of Cherry Blossoms to come in another post)

NEW FURNITURE

Joe and I have been wanting some more "grown up" bedroom furniture for awhile. Joe hates that most of my clothes are usually strewn around the room and my complaint is that he takes up the whole dresser so I have no where to put my stuff. We have also had a problem lately with Adam tipping over our $15, Walmart, not so sturdy, bedside tables. So when we found a great deal on a whole set of bedroom furniture... we were thrilled. Adam helped me clean out the closet a little bit (he loves to stack blocks and I guess he thought the shoe boxes were blocks)... but after awhile he got bored and decided coloring was more fun.

MAKING MESSES

Enough said...

TULIPS

One of the things I miss about Texas... bluebonnets. But one thing I love about Virginia... tulips!
When I first moved here and started to see these beautiful flowers pop up all around town I thought they almost looked fake. I wondered why gardeners kept planting fake flowers everywhere! It was a pleasant surprise and I was ecstatic last spring when some beautiful yellow tulips popped up in our front yard flower bed. I couldn't wait for them to pop up again this year!

And here is a picture I took at the Cherry Blossom festival of my two favorite flowers together...

AND... one more pic... just because I think he is too cute... my precious little boy showing his mischievious grin...

A few pictures

A profile picture

Sucking his/ her thumb

A 3D image... streching out a little bit. This picture made me laugh. For the first few months, Adam would always hold his hand above his head just like this.

New pictures of our angel bear...

COMING SOON!

So the mother board on our computer broke and therefore it does not recognize our printer/ scanner. But I will soon get it worked out and post some new ultrasound pictures of Baby #2.

The appointment yesterday went well (other than the fact that it lasted two hours, I had to sit still, my hips were KILLING me, and I had to pee very badly with a technician pressing on my bladder as hard as she could because our stubborn child #2 would not cooperate and turn the way it needed to be- another stubborn child... no surprise there). The important thing is that the baby is right on target and everything looks good!! :)

The ultrasound office had new machines which captured 3D images of the baby. There is a cute picture of the baby's face and although I previously thought everyone's ultrasound pictures looked the same... I really do think you can tell more from this picture and the baby has a sweet face that looks like Adam's. Proud Daddy Joe just had to take this picture to show off to all his colleagues at his office.

Joe was much better this time around about not finding out the sex. He did like being the one to announce it when Adam was born, but he says he hates the wait... he is just so excited (as am I). As with Adam, we had the technician write down what she saw and put it in a sealed envelope which Joe and I will open after the baby is born. This time around she even added pictures. I thought she hinted that it was a boy, but then Joe told me that night that he was pretty sure it was a girl-- I asked why and he said that the technician hinted to that. So in other words... we really have no idea. A healthy, happy child... that's all we ask for! God knows best. We can't wait for our little angel bear to be in our arms!

Breakfast with Mommy

When you wake up extremely early on a beautiful Saturday morning and have nothing else to do... some mother/ son time and pancakes at McDonald's is always a good option!

Helping out

Adam loves it outside and likes to help out with some of the yardwork.

Here he is helping to water the grass during the day...

And also at night...

And then we go inside and Adam helps out by "feeding" Daddy. We are going to have to watch him when brother or sister comes along... his eagerness to help is adorable but I'm not so sure he will understand that "babies can't have breadsticks"!

Pajama Sunday

This past Sunday was a wet and rainy day. We had all been out late the night before (Joe and I on our date and Adam having a good time with Joe's parents at a birthday party). So we decided that we would take it easy and have a low key day at home. We all slept in late and then hung around the house in our pajamas the rest of the day. In the afternoon we tried out some of Adam's new toys he got for his birthday (I think Joe likes some of them more than Adam-- especially this remote control car thing). And then we settled down early with a bucket of popcorn and a movie. I like just doing "nothing" with my family!

Don't worry-- it's not really popcorn. He wanted what Mommy and Daddy had so we emptied the bucket and put his cereal inside. :)

Date Night

It's quoted time and time again, but having kids really does change your life. My and Joe's idea of a "date" is usually getting Adam to go to bed early so we can stay up and watch a movie (however I usually end up falling asleep half way through). But we do feel it is important to take time for one another and remember why we have our sweet children... because he and I fell and continue to be in love.

This weekend we went on a double date with a friend of mine from work and her husband. It was mayhem and madness at the soccer game we went to, but boy was it fun! The men (or should I say boys) were uncontrollable and are already saying that we should go on another soccer game double date again soon. The event reminded me of one of my first dates with Joe-- such blissful memories!

Catching up with a good friend

There are a few friends of mine from college that I still stay in close contact with. Rachel is one of these special people and I was so excited to be able to catch up with her this past week. She was in Baltimore for a conference and Adam and I made a trip to see her. Rachel is one of those friends that matter the distance, no matter the trouble... she would be here for me in an instant. Everyone needs friends such as this- I thank God for these special friends of mine.

Barnyard Birthday Party

I know it has taken me awhile to get some pictures up of Adam's first birthday party, but I did have over 400 pictures to weed through!! Everyone had a great time- but Adam had a blast! It was a great day to celebrate such a precious gift that God has blessed our lives with.

It was a little windy and cold under the pavilion at the ranch. However, that didn't stop anyone from enjoying the massive amounts of food we had!

I am by no means a master cake decorater- but the cupcakes didn't turn out too bad. HA!

The treats for the kiddos...

Adam was not too keen on the goats and llama- they made loud noises and came right up to him. But the pony... well it looks like we have a little horse rider! He was not afraid of Mr. Riley at all and took several rides around the little arena. In fact he would even sneak in through the gate and follow the horse around when the other kids were having a ride.

15 more years and you will be driving for real! That is a frightening thought! :)

The cake was a hit! And a mess- but that's what little boys are for.

The watering hole was a good place to get cleaned up. The water was frigid but Adam did not care. He loves playing in the water. This summer should be fun!

And then it was time for the hayride...

It was a GREAT day!
