Splish Splash

Splish Splash
I took a poop in the bath
Then I used it to do math
Which set me straight on my path
and gave my dad a lot of wrath

(This is what Joe writes as I go to change Adam's diaper leaving the computer with just the title.... what this post actually was supposed to be about is not how Joe knows how to rhyme, but Adam enjoying the local water sprayground today.)

Baseball

Something we rarely do... go out on a weeknight! A friend got tickets to a baseball game and we decided to tag along. A few images from the fun night...

Little Climber

Adam's new favorite thing to do...

These pics are from a week ago or so. They make me laugh. Please ignore our extremely filthy kitchen. We had just gotten home from a quick run to the grocery store and Adam found the Coke boxes to be the perfect thing for him to climb. Joe was right behind him as I snapped these pics and we have since moved the boxes to a "safer" location! Yet he still finds other objects to climb every chance he gets-- the sofa and chest in the living room, his diaper box... got to keep your eye on this one! He's WILD! And so so lovable!

Perfect Weekend

The past few weeks have been hectic... I apologize for the lack in blogging. As soon as I got home from the family visit- it was off to a conference for work. Although I do enjoy traveling, I am glad to finally be home for awhile.

This weekend we attempted to get caught up on some housework. The air conditioner, washing machine, and dishwasher were all acting up. Joe got the air conditioner working while I was away on my business trip. I was VERY thankful! I don't think I could stand the hot summer being as big as I am without some serious air conditioning! The guy came to fix the washing machine this Saturday. What was wrong with our less than 6 month old washer you ask?!? Apparently one of Adam's socks found its way into the motor and got stuck! HA! After that fiasco, we put some laundry in and then headed off to do some grocery shopping and pick up a movie. We made it an early evening and sat down to watch (guess what Carla, Kason, Lauren, and Justin)... Semi- Pro! :)

Besides the fun time with appliances-- we did get a little bit of a chance to enjoy some family time this weekend. We took Adam to the pool and playground for awhile on Sunday. He has definately conquered his fear of the water. He wants to jump right in now-- which doesn't make me feel a whole lot better. But we had lots of fun relaxing and enjoying the sunshine.

When we got home we decided that our house was smelling pretty rank... (not sure if it was the dirty diapers, dirty laundry, or Major-- probably a combination)... so we put another load in the washing machine and decided to give Major a bath. Adam was very fascinated by this and Major had a good time jumping at the water.

The night was wrapped up by Joe mowing the lawn right before a big storm hit. In fact, as he was putting the mower back in the garage a big lightening strike hit VERY near our house! I thought it hit in our front yard! It TERRIFIED me (already being afraid of lightening didn't help).

After all the excitement of the weekend-- Adam and crashed on the couch. We were both sound asleep when Joe came downstairs from his shower. Yup-- our weekend may not sound thrilling to some... but for me... it was PERFECT!

A picture that requires no words...

As we continue to grow... soon we will need a panoramic view to fit the whole family in. Isn't life grand!

Swimming is FUN!

Adam was still a little afraid of the water when we took him swimming at Gigi and K-Dan's lakehouse pool, but as soon as he saw his cousins (especially cousin Grayson who he idolizes) jumping in the water... he decided swimming wasn't so bad after all. In fact he didn't want to leave and threw a fit-- trying to jump back in the pool. Here's our little water babies...

Knight Reunion

After finally making it to the picnic... we were able to catch up with aunts, uncles, and cousins that we had not seen in awhile. True to family-- although it had been years, we were talking and chatting as if it had been only a few hours. Nothing is better than time with loved ones. I can't wait to see them all again.

Pink Balloons

My company participates in the Race for the Cure each year. The week preceeding the big race, we hold "Think Pink" week in which there are various activities to promote the event and raise funds. This cause is close to the hearts of me and my colleagues as a co-worker and dear friend of mine is a 3 time survivor of breast cancer. The cause is also close to me because I have had many family members affected with cancer. I have lost 3 of my 4 grandparents-- all who fought their own battles of various types of cancer. Although donations for the Race for the Cure go towards finding a cure for breast cancer in particular, the hope is that one day a cure will be found for all cancers... and this word will no longer be part of our language!

On Monday we recieved balloons to fly in our cubicles in honor or memory of those who have fought cancer. Mine were flown in memory of my beloved Grandmommy who went to meet the Lord before I was able to meet her here and my two grandfathers- Grandaddy and Papa- who I miss dearly. I love you all very much and know that you are smiling down upon us from the gates of Heaven.

A typical boy

Yesterday afternoon we had some pretty heavy storms go through our area. Lights were out for awhile and trees were down all over our neighborhood. Thank God we were all okay and nothing too bad happened to our house. We did however have some limbs and branches strewn through the yard. I was worried about Adam with the lights out at school, but when we called to check in... they said he was having fun with the flashlights. And then when we got home- it took awhile for me to get Adam in the house because he wanted to pick up every "stick" from the yard. He is very into playing with "sticks" and even (I think) says the word... although sometimes it sounds too much like another word that he shouldn't be using. :) Anyways- we ended up with a bunch of sticks in our living room last night and one happy little boy with his free toys. (gotta love that)

Sand and Water

Yesterday I got to hang out with two of my best friends from college-- Shelby and Meghann. Shelby, Adam and I drove down to visit Meghann and her little boy Cooper. No big plans were made for the day, we just enjoyed hanging out and catching up on old times.

While we lounged in the backyard and did some girl talk the boys did some swiming in Cooper's little pool. Well, I should say Cooper did some swiming. Adam seemed excited at first with the water sprinkler on the pool, but as soon as we dipped his feet in-- he started to freak out! So he stuck to the water table, where he didn't have to actually be "in" the water.

After taking some naps, we headed down to the bay where we had a nice early dinner. Boys will be boys of course... when a cute girl came into the restuarant they of course could not take their eyes off her. What little flirts!

Then we completed the day with a nice walk along the beach. Once again, Adam was not so sure about the water splashing up onto the shore. While Cooper sat right down in the muddy water-- Adam was content a little further up where he could play in the sand but not have to get wet. I don't get it-- he love baths, the water hose, etc. It must have just been a little too much for one day! :) We were ALL exhausted and found our beds comforting by the end of the day.

Thank you Meghann, Cooper and Shelby for a great day!! Hope to see you again soon!
